Quickshade and magnets

Ha pasado mucho tiempo desde que subí una entrada aquí, y aunque esta misma entrada acabo de ponerla en Mis Cosas prefiero ponerla aquí también.

Ayer me decidí a experimentar con el producto de Army Painter, sí el famoso Quickshade, que promete resultados fabulosos con las sombras, sin tener que ser un maestro de la pintura. Decidí probarlo con cinco enanos de Mantic de mi ejército, y bueno... la realidad es que según sus indicaciones no he quedado del todo satisfecho.

En mi caso he probado el "soft tone" (tono suave) porque no quería arriesgarme a estropear las miniaturas, y aunque las sombras las marca bastante bien, está claro que con ciertos colores este tono no es el adecuado, y quizá deba probar con el tono siguiente de la gama.

Yesterday I decided to experiment with the product of Army Painter, yes the famous Quickshade, which promises great results with the shadows, without having to be a master painter. I decided to try with five Mantic dwarves of my army, and well ... the reality is that according to his instructions have not been entirely satisfied.

In my case I tried the "soft tone". I did not want to risk spoiling the miniatures, and even the shadows of the mark quite well, it is clear that certain colors that tone is not right, and I may need to try Next pitch range.

En la foto superior se puede ver el resultado del "baño" con Quickshade, y como podréis observar mi esquema de color está basado en el rojo; armadura dorada y cueros en marrón. A parte del tono brillante que da este producto (que luego se mata con el barniz) he comprobado que no baja el tono del dorado, por lo que voy a tener que experimentar con una mezcla de dorado y cobre, a ver si así la cosa mejora.. Los marrones los trata mejor, al igual que los rojos. Sin embargo lo que son los tonos metálicos, como la armadura que ya he comentado, el acero tampoco lo oscurece como me gustaría. Así que para arreglar un poco estas miniaturas tengo dos opciones. La primera será aplicar las tintas de Citadel y ver si lo arreglo un poco, y la segunda, seguir con el experimento y darles un nuevo baño en Quickshade.

Está claro que si doy con las combinaciones adecuadas, el pintado del grueso de mi ejército será muy rápido, que es lo que busco en realidad. Son muchísimas miniaturas y carezco del tiempo necesario para dedicarle dos días a cada miniatura.

In the pic above you can see the results of "bath" with Quickshade, and as you can see my color scheme is based on the red and brown leather and golden armor. Besides the bright tone gives this product (which then kills with the barnice) I have found that does not lower the tone of gold, so I'll have to experiment with a mixture of gold and copper, to see if the thing improvement .. Browns look better, like the red. But what are the metallic colors, like armor that I mentioned, neither steel dark as I would. So to fix some of these miniatures I have two options. The first will be to implement Citadel inks and see if I fix a little, and second, to continue the experiment and give a new bath with Quickshade.

It is clear that if I give with the right combinations, the coating thickness of my army will be very fast, which is really what I want. There are many miniatures and I have no time to devote two days each miniature.

Las bases de movimiento me las hago yo mismo con resina, y las hago cerradas por los cuatro lados (en Kings of War no se retiran miniaturas de la base como bajas) así que la propia presión del resto de peanas hace que todas sean muy estables. Sin embargo  es un autentico engorro tener que colocarlas en las bases, así que prefiero llevarlas ya colocadas y no tener que perder ese tiempo al comienzo de la partida.

The movement trays I make it myself with resin, and I closed on four sides (in Kings of War the casualities are not removed from the tray) so the pressure of the other bases makes all very stable. However, it is a real hassle having to put on the tray, so I prefer to carry and place it before and not having to spend that time at the beginning of the game.

The Liche King's Hell Horde

Mi amigo Imarchi ha recibido esta semana el set de miniaturas The Liche King's Hell Horde de Mantic y me ha pasado unas fotografías se lo que incluye este "bundle".

Como se puede ver es una buena cantidad de miniaturas, muchas cajas y en definitiva muchos muertos vivientes. Lo peor es que voy a tener que enfrentarme a esa cantidad de muertos con mi ejército de enanos y creo que lo voy a pasar muy mal.

¡Por fin! / At last!

Ya llegó mi caja de Mhorgoth's Revenge, y estoy más contento que unas castañuelas y voy a abrirla haciendo unas cuantas fotos para mostrar el contenido, sobre todo para aquellos que estén dudando comprar esta caja de miniaturas o empezar a jugar a Kings of War.
Ante todo os diré que el contenido de la caja cumple con todas las expectativas que tenía sobre ella, y está muy lejos de incluir cosas superfluas y artificios que encarecen el producto, tened en cuenta que esta caja cuesta 40 libras en el Reino Unido, 50 euros para todos los demás.

Como veis está llena hasta los topes de matrices, y so contenido son 110 miniaturas más dos maquinas de guerra, una catapulta para los muertos vivientes y un cañón para los enanos.

Además de las miniaturas, está el reglamento, la hoja con las estadísticas de los ejércitos, ocho puntos mantic para el programa de puntos y el número 2 del Mantic Journal... aaaaah! y cinco dados.
Si tengo tiempo hoy empezaré a montar los enanos, y empezará mi depresión al ver todo lo que tengo que pintar. Los muertos vivientes los dejaré para un poco más adelante (2 ó 3 días) y empezaré con los zombies, que tengo muchas ganas de verlos montados y ver si de verdad son como en las fotos (jejeje).

Already got my box Mhorgoth's Revenge, and I'm happier than a castanets (sorry, this is a spanish cliche) and I will open it and make a few pictures to show content, especially for those who are hesitating to buy this box of miniatures or start playing Kings of War.
First of all I will say that the contents of the box meets all expectations I had about it, and is far from superfluous and devices include things that raise the cost of the product, keep in mind that this box is 40 pounds in the UK, 50 euros for all others.

As you can see is filled to the top with sprues, and so contents are 110 miniatures and two war machines, a catapult to the undead and a cannon for the dwarfs.

In addition to the miniatures, is the rules manual, the army lists, eight points for the points program and the number 2 of the Journal Mantic ... aaaaah! and five dice.
If I have time today to begin assembling the dwarfs, and my depression will begin to see everything I have to paint. I will leave the living dead for a little later (2 or 3 days) and come to the zombies, which I have really wanted to see them mounted and see if they really are like in the pictures (lol).

Los primeros Retornados / First Revenants

Después de un par de días de pintura intensiva, esta tarde he dado por terminados los primeros retornados, pertenecientes a la caja que adquirí en septiembre, aun falta la bandeja de movimiento, pero está casi concluida también. La verdad es que estos días de pintura han sido muy gratificantes, pintar algo diferente y volver a los inicios ha renovado mis ganas por el hobby en general. Y sobre todo la ilusión de empezar con un juego nuevo, empezando con uno de los ejércitos desde cero.

Esta tarde como no he podido sentarme a pintar, he estado montando nuevas bandejas de movimiento, en previsión a la llegada de mi caja de Mhorgoth's Revenge y en cuanto llegue, mi idea es ir pintando unidades alternas para ir haciendo los dos ejércitos a la vez, lo malo será el tiempo que me va a llevar, por que tengo ganas ya de jugar.
Ya con esto primero terminado volveré a pintar miniaturas de mi ejército tiránido, y en Mis cosas de 40K podreis verlos avances a partir de mañana (eso espero).
En cuanto los tres zoantropos que he empezado estén terminados volveré a KoW para pintar los 10 enanos Ironclad que compre este mes.

Durante los días que he dedicado a pintar los retornados, ya ha estado rondandome la cabeza cosas que hacer para incluir en el ejército de muertos vivientes de KoW, y como siempre voy añadiendolo a la lista de proyectos pendientes. Al final voy a tener una lista de cosas "por hacer" tan larga que voy a tener que montar un negocio por franquicias para asignar proyectos a otras personas.

Por ahora cierro este capítulo, y espero reabrir el mausoleo pronto, por que estos muertos vivientes necesitan un buen sitio donde pasar la noche.

After a couple of days of intensive painting, this afternoon I have been terminated the Revenants belonging to the box I bought in September, still lack the movement tray, but is almost complete as well. The truth is that these days have been very rewarding paint, paint something different and back to the beginning has renewed my desire for the hobby in general. And above all, the desire to start a new game, starting with one of the armies from the start.

Today as I could not sit down to paint, I have been joining more movement  trays, in anticipation of the arrival of my box Mhorgoth's Revenge. My idea is to paint alternate units to be doing the two armies at once, the bad will be the time that will take me, because I have the urge and play.

Already completed this first painting miniatures again my Tyranid army, you can see my progress on My 40K Things (sorry, this blog is only in spanish) tomorrow (I hope).

When the three zoantropes are finished I started to paint again Kow 10 Ironclad dwarves.

During the days I have been painting the revenants, my head was thinking about new miniatures from scratch to include it in the army of undead Kow, and as always I will add to the list of pending projects. At the end I will have a list of things "to do" so long that I have to start a business by franchising to assign projects to other people.

For now I close this chapter and hope to reopen the mausoleum soon, these undead need good place to spend the night.

Novedades / News

Hoy se ponía a la venta la caja básica de juego de Kings of War. Que contiene el reglamento y dos ejércitos para empezar a jugar, enanos y muertos vivientes.

Aunque aun no ha caído en mis manos, estoy deseando que eso ocurra, ya no sólo por pintar estas miniaturas que me gustan mucho, si no porque tengo una curiosidad muy grande en leerme el reglamento ya terminado. Tengo puestas mis esperanzas en este juego, no sólo por el precio, qué es realmente apetecible, pero he seguido la evaluación que ha hecho el publico de la beta y creo que puede convertirse en la mejor alternativa a GW del mercado.
Así que espero poder hacer efectiva mi reserva lo antes posible y ya os contaré cuales son mis impresiones definitivas sobre el trabajo de Alessio Cavatore y todo el personal de Mantic.

Mantic today put on sale the basic box set of Kings of War. Containing the core rule set and two armies to start playing, dwarves and undead.

Although not yet fallen into my hands, I'm hoping that happens, not only for painting these miniatures that I love, but because I have a great curiosity to read the finished rules. I have placed my hopes in this game, not only for the price, which is really tempting, but I have followed the assessment made by the public of the beta and I think can become the best alternative to market GW.

So I hope I can make my reservation effective as soon as possible and I'll tell you what my final impressions on the work of Alessio Cavatore and staff of Mantic.

Esta mañana he decidido crear una página nueva dentro del blog para que sea más fácil localizar las reglas de Kings of war. En principio sólo he puesto los enlaces a la traducción que hice el mes pasado. Pero subiré las originales en inglés en cuanto pueda subirlas a Google Docs. Por lo menos para hacer comparaciones.

Como ya dije en su momento, si después de leer ambas versiones encontráis algo que este mal o que no os parezca que la traducción sea correcta sólo tenéis que dejar un comentario al respecto para que me ponga a arreglarlo.
Por cierto, ilustro esta entrada con uno de los avances de Mantic sobre su nuevo ejército, en este caso es un orco, así que pronto podremos verlos.

Parece ser que el reglamento de Kings of War ya está completo y que su edición en inglés ya está en las imprentas para ser incluido en la caja Mhorgoth's Revenge. Y según Mantic las versiones en italiano y alemán están casi listas. Parece ser que están preparando nuevas traducciones pero aun no han confirmado nada sobre que idiomas serán los siguientes. Espero que una de ellas sea el español.
Esta noticia me alegra muchísimo, porque parece ser que de verdad las compañías dedicadas a los juegos se toman muy en serio las traducciones.

Acabo de traducir las listas de ejército al español, así que ya están disponibles para su descarga. Por ahora los dos ficheros, las reglas y las listas de ejército estarán disponibles en sus entradas correspondientes del blog. Si Mantic me autoriza las traducciones (algo que será difícil) crearé una página en este blog para que sea más fácil su acceso. Pero por ahora se quedará como está.

Anoche me despiste un poco y sólo puse el enlace a la traducción del reglamento de Kings of War. Pero claro está, que si no tenéis las listas de ejército poco podréis hacer. Estas listas de ejercito aun están sin traducir (todavía no he tenido tiempo de ponerme con ellas) pero con la traducción del reglamento identificareis rápidamente cada cosa, sobre todo por que las abreviaturas de las estadísticas las he dejado en inglés para que sea más rápido.

Kings of War

This week I downloaded from the web page of Mantic  the beta rules for the miniature game called Kings of War. This core rules was written by Alessio Cavatore, former GW employee (or the Evil Empire as it is called in many forums).The manual has 12 pages and in addition an appendix containing the army lists, at first glance it appears that in so short a space will do little to tell, but once you immerse yourself in reading you realize that part of their there is much more simple.There is a word that is not designed to explain how the game, only rules, are clear, direct and concise. There is no straw to remove. I've been testing it, making some battles at home on a small scale, and I loved it as intended, there are still things to polish, but has every appearance of being a great game.If you also see the models that are designed, it is very difficult not to fall in love with them, are miniature well proportioned and in great detail, so the combination can be spectacular.As I liked both the project, I take some time to translate the rules into Spanish, because many people I know who would like to try new games, but the language barrier makes it difficult to access them, and thinking of these people I spent a few hours (very willingly) to make life easier.

Esta semana me he descargado de la web de Mantic el reglamento en etapa beta de lo que será el juego de miniaturas llamado Kings of War. este reglamento ha sido escrito por Alessio Cavatore, ex-empleado de Games Workshop (o el Imperio Maligno como lo llaman en muchos foros).
El manual tiene 12 páginas y aparte un apéndice con las listas de ejército, a primera vista parece que en tan poco espacio va a ver pocas cosas que contar, pero una vez que se sumerges en la lectura te das cuenta de que a parte de su sencillez hay mucho más. No hay una sola palabra que no esté destinada a explicar el funcionamiento del juego, sólo son reglas, claras, directas y concisas. No hay paja que poder quitar. He estado probándolo, haciendo algunas batallas en casa a pequeña escala, y me ha encantado como está diseñado, aun quedan cosas por pulir pero tiene todo el aspecto de ser un gran juego.
Si además ves las miniaturas que se han diseñado, es muy difícil no enamorarse de ellas, son miniaturas bien proporcionadas y con mucho detalle, así que la combinación puede ser espectacular.
Como me ha gustado tanto el proyecto, he aprovechado unos ratos libres para traducir el reglamento al español, porque hay mucha gente que conozco que le gustaría probar juegos nuevos, pero el problema del idioma les dificulta acceder a ellos, y pensando en esas personas he gastado unas cuantas horas (de muy buena gana) en facilitarles la vida.
